Plug-ins must be put in the following folder: /Library/Application Support/EV Nova/Plug-Ins/ (' designates your User folder). The Plug-Ins folder is created when you first launch EVN 1.1. One should note that many major plug-ins will soon come with a specific application launcher for EVN 1.1 for Mac, and this launcher allows you to load EVN with a given set of plug-ins (a major plug-in or a 'total conversion', for example) automatically. Here are the full instructions contained in the EV Nova 'Help' menu (written by ): The first time you launch EV Nova it will create a folder called 'Plug-ins' inside your Hard drive/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/EV Nova/. To use a plug-in, just drag the plug-in itself into this folder and then launch EV Nova. If EV Nova is already running, you must restart it.

When EV Nova launches it looks into this Plug-ins folder and replaces any stock resources with the resources it finds there. The 1.1.0 version of EV Nova adds the ability to create multiple Nova Support root directories. This way you can keep separate directories for the 'stock' scenario and its associated pilot files, and as many other directories as you like for different plug-in scenarios and associated pilot files.

This capability also makes 'Total Conversion' plug-ins much simpler to use than in previous versions of EV Nova. Some ambitious plug-ins change the entire game scenario by replacing all of the EV Nova Data files. Previous to version 1.1.0 using a Total Conversion, or TC, plug-in required the user to rename the plug-in data files and replace the stock files inside the Nova folder, and then doing the same in reverse to get back to the stock scenario.

With version 1.1.0, a 'Nova Files' folder can be created inside a folder that will be used as a separate Nova Support root directory and Nova will attempt to read the data from there. Create a folder inside the Hard drive/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/EV Nova/ folder, and name it however you like - such as 'Really Cool TC plug-in', and then create a folder inside this folder and name it, 'Nova Files'. Place the TC replacement data files inside this Nova Files folder. There are two ways to trigger the selection of an alternate Nova Support folder. The first way: Press the shift key when launching EV Nova 1.1.0 and a folder selection dialog will be presented allowing you to select a new Nova Support root folder - in the above case you would select 'Really Cool TC plug-in' and then click on Choose.

Nova will load the data from the Nova Files folder inside the selected Nova Support root folder. The second way: Use a command line environment variable to specify for Nova to use for its Nova Support root.

This method is intended more for TC plug-in creators who want to automate the installation and use of their plug-in. To use the environment variable open the Terminal.app inside your Utilities folder and paste the following, after specifying the correct name and path to your new Nova Support root directory: env EVNOVASUPPORTFOLDERPATH=/Library/Application Support/EV Nova/nameofnewsupportrootfolder osascript -e 'tell application 'EV Nova.app' to activate' and then press the return key. In the case above you would paste: env EVNOVASUPPORTFOLDERPATH=/Library/Application Support/EV Nova/Really Cool TC plug-in osascript -e 'tell application 'EV Nova.app' to activate' Note: replace empty spaces in file/folder names with a backslash and a space - ' '.

When you next launch EV Nova it should replace the stock scenario with the one inside the 'Really Cool TC plug-in' folder. The structure of the Nova Support folder is as follows: Nova Support -Plug-ins -Pilots -Nova Files (optional, not created by EV Nova when run, but it will read from this folder if it exists). The Plug-ins and Pilots folders will be created automatically by Nova when that scenario is loaded, either by shift clicking on launch, or by using the Terminal command described above.
