You have to be one ignorant individual to even say something like this. Writing to a forum is my last resort in finding a solution to a problem. I went to the IOmega website, and I followed their instructions to a 'T,' trying to 'FORMAT A WRITE PROTECTED' ZIP DISK, did you get that, 'WRITE PROTECTED.' I don't want to 'write protect' a zip disk, I want to Format the darn thing. But, if I'm asking people of your caliber how to do this, then I figure it's going to take a long time to find out how it's done. There was no indication whatsoever that you had tried anything or done any research to remedy the problem. Had you provided same I would not have agreed with the poster who intially made the comment.

Perhaps the next time you post here.you'll furnish sufficient detail to give readers a sense of the things you've tried unsuccessfully and ground you've covered. PS.calling other people ignorant under these circumstances is inappropriate, unwarranted and contrary to your interest in resolving the problem. From the sadly acrimonious discussion I have seen here, it appears that the recommended solution would be to go to the 'Set Protection' feature of the installed Iomega Zip Wares, (right clicking on the device icon) and unmark the set protection button. (That is a guess; the Iomega documentation I have seen is explicit about write-protecting, but leaves us to make some assumptions that the procedure can be reversed.) Anyway, this would seem the way to go in most of the old operating systems.

External Zip Drive 100mb

Unfortunately, the Zip support features (like write protection & password control) are unavailable on Windows Vista. So you would be stuck with unusable zip disk if that is the only computer system you have available. In fact there are limitations on what Iomega Zip drives can be installed on Vista.
