Folders And Rules In Outlook 2010 For Mac

Switch sound file converter 520 crack amp serial code for mac. The answer is yes, but you need more circuitry.

I have read that the email rules are in a.rwz file, located (xp, OL07) in docs and settings'user'app datamicrosoftoutlook. I have backed up the.rwz and other files in this folder for the last several years. I recently installed win7 in another partition on the same computer, installed office 2010, except for outlook, i continue to use ol07. (ol10 has needed features/buttons that don't function). In the process of removing ol10 and going back to ol07 i had to jump through numerous hoops to get it to use the.pst without throwing up an error message every time it started.

This process happened last night. Back in xp, ol07, rules were working yesterday. Today they are not. I go to look at them, and all are gone. No rules found. I go to backups from several days ago, and last month. The.rwz files on the backups are exactly the same as the one in folder mentioned at top of post.

Dated from january 2010. I tried restoring them, and still no rules seen. I made new rules today, file still shows same size and modified date of 1/2010. Clearly the rules are not stored in this.rwz file.

A file search shows that it is the only.rwz on the c: drive. Can anyone tell me where the email rules Really are stored? Since Outlook 2003, rules are stored in the PST file, not RWZ files. They will migrate with the PST file but only if you do the migration correctly.

They will still need to be reset to their new location before they wil work. Exporting and importing from RWZ files is no longer necessary, but can still be used. Trying to go back to an earlier version of Outlook is problematic, especially when it is now out of sync with the rest of Office. The only 'hoop' you must jump through is to create a new Outlook profile from scratch and reconnect it properly to your data file. From the sound of it, you did not do that correctly or there would have been no other 'hoops' through which to jump. Any chance you kept a good backup copy of you Outlook data file before you started all this mess?

Russ Valentine Microsoft Community Contributor. Russ, thanks for reply. I do have a backup of.pst. Didn't know to use it to restore rules. I created a new profile on the win7 drive for use of OL07. Of course this took over an hour trying to figure out what the opening error message meant (about using a 2010 profile with a 2007 version) and finding online help that gave sufficient detail for correcting it. Comments about simply 'create a new profile' weren't sufficient.

I took that to mean deleting the references to pst and reestablishing them. That created other frustrations and complications.

A more detailed explanation helped. Am i to understand that when i opened OL10 it modified the.pst, wiping out the rules? So when going back to OL07 the rules were modified/deleted, never to be recovered? Xp and win7 use a common.pst. Jeffrey astro46 astro46.

How To Add Folders In Outlook

Sorry Russ if i was unclear. I was referring back to original post about 'recently installed win7 in anther partition'. So: win7 partition with new install of OL10, then reverting to OL07. And existing XP partition with existing OL07.

The.pst resides on a data partition, which is used by programs on both the XP and win7 partitions. When installing OL10 on the win7 partition i set up a profile that used the existing.pst on the data partition. When reverting to OL07 i set up a new profile that used the same.pst. Apparently profile set up on on the win7 partition modified the.pst. Jeffrey astro46 astro46.

I had OL10 running on the win7 drive for a week with no problems using the same.pst as the Ol07 on the xp drive, except that folder associations in a couple of rules got lost. Seems that after reverting ol10 to ol07 on the win7 drive that the rules dissappearing problem happened. I can't say for sure that the revert/profile caused it, maybe circumstancial. Btw: i took a look at the link that you included about setting up profiles. The instructions therein are what i did, mostly.

I mishandled it when i needed to do something with the profile in win7 to stop the error message from appearing with opening ol07. I thought that taking an existing profile and somehow restablishing the link to.pst was sufficient.

I didn't understand (and, i don't believe that it is mentioned) that a profile is specifically tied to a particular installation of Outlook, not that any installation of outlook will happily use whatever profile exists. Nevertheless, you have cleared up the issue of where rules are stored. And i have learned something about profiles. I have restablished the lost rules, so all is, at the moment ok, in OL07. Hopefully Microsoft will fix the issue with contact activities not working in OL10 and i can start using OL10 again. Thanks, jeffrey astro46 astro46.

From the sound of it, you did not do that correctly or there would have been no other 'hoops' through which to jump. Any chance you kept a good backup copy of you Outlook data file before you started all this mess? Russ Valentine your answer is very subjective, we are expecting specific answer, how to solve the problem.
