  1. Rfe: Patching Support For Mac Pro
  2. Rfe Patching Support For Mac Os X

Hi guys, I have been working on a POC for my company, for Patch Management tools/Platforms. We have a mixture of Macs and PCs.

Support

We have a dedicated Windows SOE, which we have highly customized. WSUS servers deploy approved patches, approved by our team. For Windows the SolarWinds product (on top of the WSUS service) provides the analytics that we need, but not necessarily the third party patching support.

We are now looking at options for Linux/Unix (Mac OS). We have completed POCs for SolarWinds' Patch Manager and Ivanti's Patch. Both products have shortfalls.

What have other SysAdmins' experiences been with deploying these products? What were the issues you faced? Why did you choose a specific product over another?

Thank you @BBigford @skeeredfitless for mentioning ManageEngine here. Hi @seastalk Since they have already have given some intros on Desktop Central, I will help you make the right choice. If you're looking only for Windows, Mac, Linux and third party patching, you can give a try on, an exclusive patching solution for all your above mentioned requirements. Works independent of WSUS. Free for 25 computers. Available both On-Cloud and Premise.

Now if you're looking for something beyond patching, like OS imaging & deployment, software distribution, MDM, remote control, IT asset management and more, please give a try on, a unified endpoint management suite. Comes free for 50 endpoints. If you're interested for a personalized demo on either of these, please DM me your mail id, I will ask my experts to get in touch with you.

Hope the shortfalls are offered from ManageEngine. Thanks @BBigford for mentioning as well! @Seastalk Only fair for us to get our little sales pitch in as well;) I'll be straight with you though, if you are looking for features such OS Imaging and Deployment, MDM, and Remote Control then ManageEngine might be a better choice for you as mentioned by @Giridhara. While we will be expanding our product in the future, Automox does not currently support these features. That being said, we take pride in being an OS agnostic, cloud based patching and software distribution solution placing emphasis on simplifying the lives of our users. Through a combination of our intuitive UI and simplistic agent, makes it easy for you to be up and running managing your environment within minutes.

Sounds like you've put in a lot of work into your WSUS environment already, no need to blow all that away, Automox can integrate with your current setup to make your transition that much easier. Happy to facilitate a demo if you are interested in hearing more. DM me your information and I will get you in touch with the right people.

Rfe Patching Support For Mac Os X

Let me know if you have any questions!! @Seastalk Apologies for the delay in response, things have been kind of hectic with the holiday weekend. Great to hear you signed up for a trial!

Please do not hesitate to give us any feedback you may have. In response to your questions, in order to keep down the network traffic we do not send back every bit of information to the console instantaneously. Rather, this information is sent back whenever our agent does a 'system scan'. By default, this is scheduled to occur every 24 hours but can be modified to occur at intervals as low as 1 hour. Additionally, system scans are also triggered whenever a policy is scheduled to run for a particular endpoint.

In regards to the wake on LAN feature, unfortunately we do not have this feature currently integrated into Automox. However, you can submit this on our features board as a new idea. Feature requests are handled via a community voting system and will be prioritized accordingly. I hope this answers all your questions! Do not hesitate to reach out should you have any more. I am happy to assist in any way I can.
