Mime Type Plug In For Mac

Hi, Firefox plays MP3's within the browser with Quicktime. I want to be able to select what to do with these, i.e. Download them. Content File Types brings up nothing but PNG and TIFF (literally that is all that is on there).

I have looked around the Web for a couple of hours but this is getter the better on me. I have tried MIMEedit 0.60 to try and manually add the way to handle MIME types but it didn't work. Added loads of MIME types such as audio/mpeg, audio/mpeg-x, etc. I have also tried going to about:config and setting browser.download.hidepluginswithoutextensions to false - no luck. I have also deleted the MimeType.rdf from my profile and have even added a new profile - still no luck, even reinstalling Firefox draws a blank )-: Anyone have yet another idea for me?

Thanks, Virtual. I bet it's your QuickTime setting then. Please check System preferences QuickTime Advanced MIME settings.

Something is probably checked there to play in the browser window. While at it, double check the other options in that QuickTime window. Another thing you can do is to locate an MP3 file in your Mac. Then do a command + I to see what application is set for default. Imovie 09 and idvd for mac. Yet another thing, if you really don't want FF to play the file, just right click on the file (or control click if you use one-button mouse) and select to save the file anywhere you want in your Mac.
